Founded in 1982, the PKD Foundation is the only organization, worldwide, devoted to improving clinical treatment and discovering a cure for Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Polycystic means multiple cysts. In effect, PKD denotes multiple cysts on each kidney. The PKD Foundation’s priority is to lead an aggressive research strategy that finds a cure while helping current patients by expanding research areas and methodologies funded by the PKD Foundation. The PKD Foundation has grown from an organization funding its first grant of $25,000 for PKD research in 1984 to annually funding millions of dollars of peer-approved research.
