American Tinnitus Association

Founded in 1971, the American Tinnitus Association (ATA) is the nation’s preeminent voice on tinnitus awareness, prevention, and treatment. Tinnitus is the perception of sound in the ears or head where no external source is present. The ATA strives to silence tinnitus through education, advocacy, research, and support. The ATA meets this challenge by providing helpful, hopeful services and programs to people with tinnitus, their families and health care professionals, and the public. The ATA offers prevention programs in schools, urges governmental and private organizations to support hearing conservation, funds the nation’s brightest researchers, and facilitates self-help groups around the country. The ATA has given over two million dollars in research grants to researchers across the country.
