Founded in 1974, Bet Tzedek, meaning The House of Justice in Hebrew, provides free legal assistance to thousands of people who would otherwise be denied access to the legal system underpinning our democracy. Bet Tzedek’s services are provided both by full-time staff members and by hundreds of volunteers. Clients include low-income, elderly and disabled people from all walks of life. Bet Tzedek makes a crucial difference in the lives of the most vulnerable members of the community, winning favorable results for clients in more than 90% of contested cases. Bet Tzedek is a non-sectarian organization serving clients at its main office in the Fairfax district, at the San Fernando Valley office in North Hollywood and at 30 senior centers across Los Angeles County.
