Channel One Food Bank was established in 1983 with the dual purpose to help feed hungry people and reduce food waste. Channel One is one of six Minnesota food banks and serves in a leadership capacity with Hunger Solutions Minnesota. Channel One Food Bank acts as a clearinghouse for millions of pounds of food by gathering, warehousing, and sometimes repackaging donated product from producers, manufacturers, wholesalers, brokers and retailers. Food is distributed to charitable organizations that have food programs as part of their mission. Channel One Food Bank is a member of America’s Second Harvest, the largest domestic hunger relief organization in the country.
