Free Arts for Abused Children

Founded in Los Angeles in 1977, Free Arts for Abused Children is a national organization that integrates the healing and therapeutic power of the arts into the lives of abused and neglected children and youth, as well as families who have been designated as “at risk.” Programs also target children living in residential care facilities and children in courthouse waiting areas while the families wait for their hearings. Free Arts recruits, trains and places volunteers to work hands-on with victims of abuse; over 1,000 trained volunteers participate in Free Arts programs each year. Free Arts Affiliates are organizing throughout the country, including the cities of New York, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Portland.
