Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan

In 1977, Gleaners Community Food Bank was one of just three food banks in the nation. It has since worked to ease the problem of hunger in southeastern Michigan and across America. Gleaners collects, warehouses, repacks and distributes many millions of pounds of food for over 300 local member agencies. These agencies pick up food from Gleaners in convenient amounts for use in serving meals, preparing food packages and stocking food pantries. Gleaners has become a model for other food banks to follow, with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, a motivated staff, and enthusiastic community volunteers. Gleaners is a vital link between available food and those who need it most.
