Greater Yellowstone Coalition (GYC) works to shape a future where wildlife populations maintain their diversity and vitality, where ecological processes function with minimal intervention, and where exceptional outdoor recreational opportunities abound for residents and visitors. GYC formed in 1983 around a simple premise: a healthy, wild ecosystem can prosper only if it is kept whole. Rivers, migrating wildlife, even boiling waters shifting below ground do not stop for lines drawn on a map. Greater Yellowstone spreads from two national parks into three states, seven national forests and 20 counties. Our organization has evolved to become a leader in conservation work in the region with more than 10,000 individual members.
