The mission of the International Rhino Foundation (IRF) is to contribute to rhino conservation by providing technical, administrative and financial services and support for programs which emphasize intensive management and scientific research both in situ (in the wild) and ex situ (in captivity) as equally important components of rhino conservation. For its programs in nature, IRF concentrates on the species and subspecies most in need of, and most appropriate for, intensive protection and management. For its programs in captivity, IRF facilitates management and sponsors research with the ultimate objective of helping captive populations become truly viable and hence an integral part of conservation strategies for rhinos.
