Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement

Founded in 1975, the mission of Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement is to empower and unite grassroots people of all ethnic backgrounds to take control of their communities; involve them in identifying problems and needs and in taking action to address them; and be a vehicle for social, economic, and environmental justice. We are everyday people who talk, act and get things done on issues that impact us the most. Issues like having a factory farm move in next door, devaluing your property and ruining your quality of life; or shady lenders that take advantage of families. This past year, we fought for and won Iowa’s first ever clean air standards for factory farms. And over the past 3 years, members have helped families recover over $4 million from shady lenders.
