Founded in 1977, the Ocean Institute (OI) is an organization dedicated to ocean preservation through education. OI is a laboratory for creating, testing, and the dissemination of new ideas, strategies, and technologies for teaching and learning as they relate to our environment and our coasts. OI is a leader, serving as a resource to museums, school districts, teachers, and others who seek to enhance and strengthen their educational programs. The curriculum available through the OI programs crosses all traditional disciplines, but draws heavily from history and the sciences using content derived from the ocean.
