Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee

Founded in May 1986, Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee serves the eight counties in northeast Tennessee with emergency food for distribution. We solicit donations of food from national manufacturers, grocers, and individuals and redistribute it to over 200 food pantries, soup kitchens, children’s homes, and other non-profit charities that feed the hungry in our region. Our principal goal is to help create a community where people at risk for hunger always have somewhere to turn for food assistance. Ultimately, our vision is to insure that people in need always have access to nutritious food in Northeast Tennessee. Our latest figures show that 3.4 million pounds of food were distributed during 2003.
