The Heat and Warmth Fund

The Heat and Warmth (THAW) Fund improves the quality of life in Michigan and prevents human suffering by providing low-income families with energy assistance during crisis and by advocating for long term solutions to energy issues that affect the poor. During the 2003-2004 heating season, THAW distributed $4,561,705 in energy assistance to nearly 15,000 households. Since its inception in 1986, THAW has helped over 88,000 deserving Michigan families (more than half with children) keep their heat and lights on. THAW has provided more than $34 million in assistance to Michigan’s elderly, unemployed, underemployed, disabled and families who found themselves in temporary crisis.
