The United Way of Benton County, Arkansas provides funding to more than 80 health and human service agencies and programs in Benton County. The first United Way in Benton County opened its doors in 1971 and United Way of Benton County was formed in 1994 when four individual United Ways combined. The organization maintains a Gifts In Kind Warehouse at its Bentonville location that distributed $16 million dollars worth (wholesale value) of merchandise last year to 150 charitable causes and 10 food banks in four states. United Way of Benton County also staffs an Information & Referral hotline called First Call For Help which fields over 2,500 calls per year from all over Northwest Arkansas and publishes a directory of local and national social services.
