United Way of South Hampton Roads

With roots dating back to 1923, the United Way of South Hampton Roads (UWSHR) was established in January 1984. The mission of UWSHR is to build a stronger South Hampton Roads by mobilizing its communities to improve people’s lives. UWSHR exists to raise annual operating funds for 69 voluntary, health, rehabilitation, and character-building agencies throughout Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Isle of Wight County and Suffolk. UWSHR solves problems by leading community partnerships and providing funds for services directly impacting Hampton Roads. In addition, UWSHR brings business, government, schools, health care and social services together as partners through efforts like Success by 6 and Young Leaders Society.
