WEAVE (Women Escaping a Violent Environment) was established in 1978 to serve domestic violence victims and their families in Sacramento County. WEAVE works to decrease victim trauma and promote recovery through effective counseling and advocacy programs in Sacramento County; to decrease the incidence of sexual assault and domestic violence; and to challenge and dispel societal myths which condone and perpetuate violence against women regionally, statewide and nationally. In addition to providing many direct services, we also assume a leadership role in educating and raising awareness in order to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault.
