Air Force Aid Society

The Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) is the official charity of the United States Air Force. Since its creation in 1942, AFAS has helped to relieve financial distress of Air Force members and their families and to assist them in financing their higher education goals. AFAS is rooted in the original Army Air corps and the World War II Army Air Forces, whose members wanted to “take care of their own.” Through the years, AFAS has become increasingly effective in helping individuals with personal emergencies, sponsoring educational assistance programs, and offering a variety of base community enhancement programs that impact member/family welfare. Over 30,000 Air Force members and their families were helped with more than $21.3 million in direct assistance last year.
