Alaska Marine Conservation Council

Founded in 1994, the Alaska Marine Conservation Council (AMCC) is a community-based organization of people who care about the health and future of Alaska’s oceans and coastal communities. Our members are fishermen, subsistence harvesters, marine scientists, small business owners and families. Our way of life, livelihoods and economies depend on healthy marine ecosystems. We are working to protect and restore our marine environment through sustainable fishing practices, habitat protection, and local stewardship. We support an ecosystem approach to research and marine resource management that incorporates the best science, experiential knowledge and the wisdom of tradition.
