American Psychiatric Foundation

The American Psychiatric Foundation is the charitable and educational affiliate of the 38,000 member American Psychiatric Association (APA). We advance public understanding that mental illnesses are real and can be effectively treated. The Foundation provides grant support for programs in public education that promote the early recognition of mental illnesses, remove financial, cultural, and societal barriers to quality mental health care, and encourage active persons with mental illnesses and their caregivers to actively participate in their treatment. The Foundation also administers fellowships that educate psychiatry residents about development of public policy related to the care of the mentally ill and awards that recognize excellence in psychiatric research.
