American Veterinary Medical Foundation

Established in 1963, the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) exists to advance the care of animals through disaster preparedness and response. When disaster strikes, animals are impacted too. Whether it be a local emergency, regional disaster or a national tragedy, the American Veterinary Medical Foundation is dedicated to making sure relief and assistance is in place for animals and their owners who are impacted by disasters of any kind. The AVMF has stressed the importance of animal disaster preparedness and relief for the past 10 years. In 2003, animal disaster preparedness and response became the AVMF’s primary focus, with the goal of delivering a uniform and consistent level of animal care in the face of disaster on national, state and local levels.
