Since 1891, the Animal Humane Society has served the citizens and animals of the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. The Society is a private association, dedicated to the belief that there is a unique and reciprocal bond between humans and animals that can be a vital and positive influence in society. We offer educational and therapeutic programs for people, as well as humane shelter and adoption services for animals, as a means of serving the partners in that bond. Located in the Minneapolis suburb of Golden Valley, the Animal Humane Society can house approximately 500-550 animals and accepts over 20,000 incoming animals each year.
