The purpose of the Brookfield Zoo is to inspire conservation leadership by connecting people with wildlife. The vision is to be the preeminent zoological institution working with people to achieve a more harmonious and sustainable relationship with the natural world. Brookfield Zoo continually works to make the best use of its conservation resources, and the Zoo explores, develops, and evaluates new ways and roles to achieve its vision to be a conservation center for the community. Brookfield Zoo’s Education Department develops and administers educational programs and activities, and creates much of the zoo’s interpretive signs and activities in exhibits.
