Central Illinois Foodbank

Established in 1981, Central Illinois Foodbank distributed more than 5.5 million pounds in FY2001-02 through its 220 member agencies. Approximately 125,000 people in 21 counties rely on the food provided by the foodbank. Central Illinois Foodbank programs include America’s Second Harvest Food Industry Donation Project, a national food distribution program, which allows Central Illinois Foodbank to distribute more than five million pounds of grocery items to those in need; Community Harvest, a produce distribution program; Food Rescue Express, Kids Cafe; Food Plus; and the Department of Human Services Emergency Food Program; Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA); and Surplus Food Centers.
