Detroit Public TV-WTVS

Detroit Public Television (DPTV) began broadcasting in 1955 as WTVS Channel 56, a non-commercial, educational TV station licensed to the Detroit Educational Television Foundation. WTVS Detroit Public Television is the viewer-supported PBS member station serving the nation’s tenth largest television market. Its vision is to educate, entertain and inspire, in partnership with the community it serves. DPTV is the only public television station in the Detroit market and is regularly watched in some one million southeast Michigan households each week. Additionally, DPTV is available to 2.4 million homes throughout Canada via satellite.
