Greater Androscoggin Humane Society

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is committed to promoting a Humane Community by providing the best possible care for stray, abandoned and abused animals. Formerly known as the Lewiston-Auburn SPCA, we have recently returned to our roots in changing our name. Originally called the Androscoggin County Humane Society, this organization was started on February 25, 1885. The Shelter is finally beginning to see progress in its attempts to decrease the unwanted pet population. Through aggressive spay/neuter programs, the number of animals coming into the shelter has finally seen a substantially reduction. About 1,000 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens get neutered before going into their new homes every year.
