Heifer Foundation was established by the board of Heifer International in 1990 for the purpose of educating people about planned charitable giving, as well as building an endowment to generate ongoing support for the work of Heifer International. The Foundation works closely with donors and their trusted advisors to help them in reaching their financial, estate and charitable goals while simultaneously helping Heifer International meet its goal of alleviating the global burden of hunger and poverty. As of December 31, 2004, the Foundation’s assets and commitments total almost $62.8 million, with an endowment of $29.9 million; $20.3 million in trust and annuity funds; and gift commitments totaling more than $12.2 million.
