Houston Food Bank

The Houston Food Bank is a private organization that feeds the hungry by seeking food donations and distributing them to local charitable programs that care for the needy. Since opening its doors in March 1982, the Food Bank has distributed more than 290 million pounds of food and other essentials to area residents in need. Last year, the Food Bank provided over 27 million pounds of food and other essentials to about 400 member programs in its 18-county service area. The Houston Food Bank is a certified affiliate of America’s Second Harvest.
