The Initiative Foundation was created in 1986, as the Central Minnesota Initiative Fund, to help stimulate economic growth and community development throughout the state of Minnesota. The Initiative Foundation seeks to unlock the potential of the people of central Minnesota to build and sustain healthy communities. The Foundation’s vision for central Minnesota begins with people. The Foundation sees the region as a place where people of all ages, ability levels, classes, races and cultures are respected, their gifts and talents valued, and their community contributions recognized and celebrated. It sees people investing their time and resources in improving their community because they are given an opportunity to help create a local vision and plan for the future.
