Kingsley House, nationally respected as the oldest Settlement House in the South, has served the people of New Orleans through times of dramatic change since 1896. We have seen our city’s most crucial problems move from language and cultural barriers at the turn of the century, to the challenges of integration in the Sixties, to the effects of drugs and violence, poverty and racism today. Kingsley House has served over half a million people since 1896. Today, we serve over 7,000 people per year in a wide variety of enabling programs. We will continue to devote all of our energies and resources to our mission of educating children, strengthening families, and building community as we work towards the successful recovery and rebuilding of our city, state and region.
