Knox Area Rescue Ministries (KARM) was formally established on December 8, 1960 by five local pastors under the original organizational name Knoxville Union Rescue Mission. The founders of this work envisioned a truly compelling ministry that would share the love of Jesus Christ by meeting the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of hurting and homeless men who found themselves lost and forgotten in a busy world. KARM has emerged as Knoxville’s answer to the plight of the poor and the homeless. Today, KARM is more equipped and prepared than ever before to fulfill its mandate and pledge to the hurting and homeless of the greater Knoxville area.
