McHenry County PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) strives to end homelessness in McHenry County one person at a time. PADS reconnects homeless men, women, and children with the community by providing emergency, transitional, and preventive services and to raise public understanding regarding homelessness. Created in 1987, PADS operates: a transitional housing program which is open year around to men, women, and children; a transportation program that provides assistance to individuals without a mode of transportation; and individual and group programs that offer services in areas such as mental health counseling, psychiatric care, substance abuse programs and vocational counseling.
