The Montgomery Area Food Bank fights hunger and poverty in South Central Alabama by distributing food and other donated products to nearly 700 non-profit member agencies serving 25 counties. Through this food network, our partnering charity organizations provide free food to low income county residents by distributing bags of groceries or on-site feeding (soup kitchen) programs. The Food Bank system, which has been in place for more than 20 years, takes food that otherwise would have gone to waste and gets it out to people who are unable to provide adequate food for themselves and their families. We distributed 11 million pounds of food in 2004.
