Mothers Against Drunk Driving

From its humble beginnings 25 years ago, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) enjoys unprecedented success as a charitable organization. What began with anger and a broken heart has developed into an association of more than two million members and supporters, with net assets of $23.5 million. With approximately 600 affiliates, MADD is one of the nation’s largest crime victim service organizations. Men, women and young people from around the nation say they believe MADD is fulfilling its mission to stop drunk driving, support victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking. As MADD enters a third decade of changing lives, public opinion, and public policy, key elements from its past stand out as vital to any group wishing to establish itself as a force for change.
