The Norfolk Foundation was founded in 1950 as the first community foundation in Virginia. Today, the Foundation is the 50th largest community foundations in the country with more than $180 million in assets. The Foundation makes grants that transform the quality of life and inspire philanthropy in southeastern Virginia. In the past 55 years the Foundation has awarded more than $75 million in grants and scholarships to improve life in its region.
