Pacem in Terris, Peace on Earth, is a Franciscan center of spirituality called to serve God’s people through prayer and by providing the opportunity to retreat into the silence and solitude of a simple hermitage environment. In the midst of the natural beauty of the forest and prairie, people of all faiths are invited to come and respond to God’s call: “Be still and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:11) Pacem’s 16 hermitages are nestled carefully into the woods amidst the beauty of the natural environment to ensure the quiet and solitude of each hermit guest on retreat. Believing that peace comes from God, and flows through the human heart, Pacem in Terris seeks to be a channel of God’s peace in the lives of His people and, therefore, the world.
