For fifty years, the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission has served as a beacon to the hungry and homeless, giving help and hope. The Rescue Mission is a Christian organization dedicated to helping those we serve become independent productive citizens of the community. The Mission provides temporary emergency relief care such as food, clothing and shelter, and long term counseling, spiritual guidance and addictive disease rehabilitation for homeless men. In October 2004, the Mission broke ground on a new shelter that will provide emergency shelter for men, women and children. Completion of phase one is expected in early 2006.
