Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Portland, Oregon

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Portland, Oregon is a catholic organization of lay persons founded in 1869, which provides volunteer services to the needy and suffering. The Portland District Council represents the combined efforts of 51 local conferences. In addition to coordinating the efforts of the conferences, the council manages special works programs including coordinating emergency services in two affordable housing units, operating a food recovery program, maintaining a food bank, operating a café for the hungry (predominantly homeless), providing emergency services, thrift stores, and maintaining a support structure for information, referral, and linkage in assistance to the conference volunteers. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a worldwide Catholic organization, open to all who wish to live their faith by loving and serving their neighbor.
