Target Hunger

Target Hunger’s first priority is to ensure that those who need food have a place to get it. However, what makes Target Hunger unique is that it tries to solve the underlying root causes of hunger. It empowers clients to become self-sufficient by offering training courses in nutrition, self-esteem, literacy and math, and job search workshops. These programs are designed to help clients better themselves. In order to become part of Target Hunger’s food program, clients are required to take a series of six nutrition classes. Volunteer counselors interview every client to ensure that they are participating in their courses, encourage them to apply for food stamps and help them gain access to other community resources such as General Equivalence Diploma (GED) programs and job opportunities.
