United Animal Nations (UAN) was founded in 1987 by a small group of humane movement workers with more than 120 years of aggregate experience, who wanted to save forgotten animals. Today, we work to protect animals in danger or in need and focus global attention on their plight. Our Emergency Animal Rescue Service (EARS) program rescues, shelters, feeds, grooms, exercises and provides TLC for any displaced companion animals, wildlife and livestock during the duration of a disaster with no charge to the community. We also have a long-standing history of engaging the public, media and legislators on animal welfare topics. In 2002, for example, UAN was instrumental in passing a bill establishing protections for cats and dogs used by animal blood banks in California.
