Young Life Capernum

Begun in San Jose, Calif., in 1986, Young Life Capernaum Ministries is a program of Young Life especially for kids and young adults with disabilities.

Young people with disabilities — like their able-bodied peers — have hopes and dreams, needs and fears; but, many of them feel isolated and have no one to share their struggles with and no one to encourage them and help them be all God designed them to be. Young Life Capernaum helps fill the void many of these young people face. Capernaum gives kids and young adults with disabilities the chance to have fun, make friends, develop self-esteem and begin a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Capernaum Leaders
Young Life Capernaum leaders are caring people who strive to provide what every young person needs, especially those with disabilities — a life filled with love, support, excitement and challenge. These trained leaders spend time with their Capernaum friends, modeling the love of Jesus Christ at weekly club meetings, special events and on camp trips — helping young people with disabilities discover their ability to do new things and to be all God designed them to be.

Capernaum Camping
Capernaum gives young people with disabilities an unforgettable and life-changing experience at camp. With one-on-one help and attention from their Young Life leaders, at a top-notch camp in picturesque surroundings, these young people get to do as many of the camp activities as possible. Skiing, horseback riding and mountain climbing are among these exciting adventures.

Capernaum Club
Capernaum clubs give kids and young adults with disabilities a chance to get out and have fun with peers and leaders. While our friends with disabilities are always welcome at Young Life and WyldLife clubs, Capernaum clubs are tailored with extra fun activities just for them.

To Learn More
Without Capernaum, many young people with disabilities continue to be cut off from all they are capable of becoming, from enriching the lives of others and from leading more fulfilling and productive lives. To learn more or to exploring starting Capernaum in your area, contact a Capernaum coordinator near you.
